Our goal is to broaden the range of attendees at RailsCamp 24. We are focusing on people who are unemployed or in the early stages of their careers who identify as belonging to a group or groups under-represented at technology events and who might otherwise find it difficult to afford to attend.
Under-represented groups include, but are not limited to
People with Disabilities
People living in remote, rural or regional Australia
Recent migrants to Australia (particularly from non English speaking backgrounds) and refugees
People of diverse gender identity
Members of the LGBT community
Successful applicants will be offered a free ticket to Rails Camp Hobart. Applications for diversity tickets will close 10 days before regular ticket sales or when 80% of available tickets have been sold, whichever comes first, to allow unsuccessful applicants to purchase a regular ticket if they wish. Unfortunately we are unable to assist with travel costs, and attendees are responsible for flights if necessary. Buses are provided to and from either the Hobart CBD or the Hobart Airport on Friday afternoon and Monday morning.
